The items below are a few examples of our Accounts Receivable Data Tables.
For items 1, 2 and 3, you can see the data record that stores the Receivable amount and in items 2 and 3 will see different ways payments are recorded as well as status update functionality.
Please remember that spreadsheet style "forms" like that Sales Ticket could be created to create these records and "forms" could be created for updating these records, but all of that creates a great deal of added complexity and it should only be pursued if needed.
All of the information referenced below is found in more detail in the application specific examples on this website.

1) A/R - Simple Account Balances - Like an IOU
We include a most basic accounts receivable worksheet in our Wellness Point Of Sale System. It is a spreadsheet with 5 columns. We delete records after they are paid, but you could keep them and show them as paid if desired.
2) A/R - Health Insurance Billing
Receivables for medical and wellness visits (refered to in the billing industry as patient visits) are one of the most complex accounts receivable applications found because the visit liability is presumed to start with the Insurance Company, but it can then shift to secondary insurers and then on to patients - and to complicate matters, copays can be made up front which need to be tracked as well (what those that created this system thought was a good thing makes that accounting more confusing).
We spent significant time building out an accounts recievable tracking system for an Acupuncture Clinic as well as a Chiropractic Clinic -- the end result was "fairly simple" and powerful solutions that will fit most small practice needs.
Below is a screen shot of the working worksheet where most of the tracking takes place. The record status is in the far left column and there payment details contained in each different colored section. The record status updates automatically based on math values entered in the record.

- Light Beige -- Service details and redecoration of any payments made at time of service
- Gold -- EOB Details including full or partial payments from Insurance Company
- Teal -- Post Patient Invoicing payment information (if applicable)
3) Metered Water Billing
We built an Accounts Receivable system for a small water company that had 18 meters on a single water supply. Her 90 minute billing and collection tracking process was reduced to 10 minutes and her look went from unprofessional to professional at the same time.
Invoice status/Payment Status is in column N. Paid date is in column O. This is a manual status update system but it could easily be automated.
